I hope all is well with you and your family. This has been a good year for shows so far, and it’s about to really heat up with my summer reading concert series! Hard to believe, but this is my 25th year performing as David Chicken. It has been an amazing journey that has taken me from coast-to-coast and around the world. But nothing compares to performing while having my own children at the show. That is the ultimate “victory lap” as far as I’m concerned.

To that end, I wanted to make an entry about our youngest daughter, Fifi McMahon. Fifi loves creativity, art, and music. She is also excellent at math, like her big sister Amaya. She is a strong and loving child, and already quite independent at age 7. She recently did her first violin recital, after taking lessons for only 6 weeks. She marched right up there and performed her song, and did a great job. My wife Sarah and I are so proud of her.

I love meeting each of you and your families at my shows. Hopefully you can meet Fifi and Amaya at one of my upcoming shows. A full list can be found here.

I am happy to report that another summer reading season of shows was a big hit! From Ft. Worth to West Baton Rouge, the show always got families on their feet singing, dancing and having a blast. I feel fortunate to be able to meet so many fantastic people and share the gift of music. Now is a great time to book shows for the fall and next year. New Iberia was especially lovely; the history in this quaint town is palpable. I had to stand outside of the old library building and take photos for about 10 minutes before going in! A few shots are included in this post.

I was even able to teach an art class, in Sunset, Louisiana–The Washboard Capital of the World! (Although the kids ended up teaching me something in art, as usual!)

But as always, the best part was the families! Thank you to everyone who came to the shows and got involved. Let’s keep on reading and exercising this summer–and all year long!

The live musical show returns to the gorgeous Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. There will be two shows: 11am at the DeGolyer steps, and 2pm at the Concert Stage. Bring the kids for a beautiful day of family fun music!

We have had several fantastic shows at this outstanding venue in years past. David & Family are honored to return. We hope to see you there!

We had our first school show of 2019 last week at Elliot Elementary in Frisco ISD and it was tons of fun. We played for two groups of kids: Grades K-2, and grades 3-5. The show was a big hit with both groups! That’s the nice thing about having so many songs to choose from; we can create custom sets for each age range.
